Students will participate in an International Conference and/or Excursion. The aim is to bring the students in contact with institutional and intellectual worlds outside Leiden. This academic year, the course will include participation in the 12th International Conference of the European Association of Southeast Asian Archaeologists, which will be held in Leiden from 1-5 September 2008. An event concerning East Asian archaeology and/or excursion to visit a famous collection in a neighbouring country will also be organized later in the academic year.
Admission requirements

Learning objectives
*Have knowledge of the latest research in East Asian archaeology; *Have knowledge of current debates in East Asian archaeology; *Have a critical view on the latest research and on current debates; *Is able to voice one´s own well-argumented opinion; *Is able to evaluate the presentations, results, the importance and implications of that research of the Conference/Excursion; *Is able to compare exhibitions/collections outside the Netherlands with Dutch exhibitions; *Have a critical view on the selections made by the foreign museum in comparison with Dutch museums with respect to the theme, focus and purpose of the exhibition.
