Current debates in the field of art history centre around such topics as art history versus visual culture and Bildwissenschaft; the Euroamerican focus of the discipline and the globalizing world; matters of cultural heritage and iconoclasm; historical (i.e. primary informed by history) versus a-historical (i.e. primary informed by theory) approaches in the study of art. These issues will be introduced, discussed, and debated in a series of seminar meetings.
For each meeting, the students will have a reading assignment; they present and discuss their finding in the meetings.
