In de recente analytische wijsbegeerte wordt de filosofie van de literatuur systematisch ontwikkeld. Daarbij staan de volgende vragen centraal: hoe verhoudt waarheid zich tot fictionaliteit; wat is de ontologie van de literatuur; wat is tekstinterpretatie; wat is metaforiek; hoe verhouden literaire waarden zich tot ethische, religieuze en wetenschappelijke waarden; welke rol speelt de verbeelding in kennisverwerving; wat is betekenis?
In de cursus worden de belangrijkste analytische argumentaties over deze kwesties besproken. Deze worden in discussie gebracht met de meer continentale benaderingen. Deze cursus sluit aan op de B2-cursus Filosofie van de literatuur I (historische inleiding tot de filosofie van de literatuur) maar kan ook als zelfstandige cursus worden gevolgd.
