In this seminar we will read the remaining work of Sophocles: 7 tragedies that have greatly influenced literature, music, psychology and philosophy.
We will combine reading the individual plays with thematic questions (e.g. the tragic hero, transgression, divine justice etc.).

Required reading
- An edition of the Greek text (e.g. the Loeb-edition in 2 parts by Hugh Lloyd- Jones) – A translation of the plays
Examination
Presentation (oral and written). The student’s contributions to critical discussion of material presented by others will be part of the evaluation.
