Topics in Turkish Linguistics

Course
2009-2010

A thorough knowledge of Turkish grammar should provide a sound basis for participation in this course. Therefore, the successful completion of TUTV10, TUTV11, and TUTV13 (or equivalent) is a requirement.
The following theoretical aspects of the linguistic description of Turkish are anticipated: 1) the role of archiphonemes in linguistic rules; 2) the marking of definiteness, specificity, genericity; 3) constituent ordering; 4) the art of compounding; 5) analyzing of postpositions; 6) productivity in derivational morphology; 7) control phenomena and verbal lexical structure.
The course will be concluded with a paper.
