Method of Instruction

Tutorials; attendance is compulsory (see the rules and regulations of the Department of History, art. 2).

Course objectives

Students acquire a profound understanding of the most recent scholarly discussions in the early-modern and modern history of Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and the Atlantic.

  • Catherine B. Asher and Cynthia Talbot, India before Europe (Cambridge University Press, 2006).

Examination

Students are expected to submit short essays and one oral presentation.
