A portion of the Christian literature of the Middle East will be studied and discussed. Attention will be devoted particularly to the question as to how literature (chronicles, exegesis, letters, etc.) is used to formulate the history and interpret the circumstances of Middle Eastern Christians. One either continues the study of the language and literature already studied in one’s BA, or one takes up a new language. The following literatures are taught: Christian-Arabic, Armenian, Classical-Ethiopian, Coptic, Old Nubian, Malayalam, and Syriac.
Timetable
Time and place will be decided upon in consultation with the students.
