Description
Objectives of the course
The course aims at further developing the students’ presentation, writing, and researching skills, as well as offering the opportunity to engage in extensive debate during the sessions. The students have to cooperate in preparing presentations, as well as operate individually during the research for the papers.
Short description of the course
In the context of the ‘privatissimum’ course, a different aspect of EU law is emphasized each year. The emphasis may be on such topics as economic regulation techniques, the freedom to provide services or the principle of mutual recognition. The students are expected to write papers and make oral presentations on specific issues within a topic. The best papers are rewarded a prize, and are published as “students’ discussion papers” on the Europa Institute’s website, following students’permission.

The following achievement levels apply with regard to the course:
The students acquire a thorough knowledge of a specific field of European Community law. Also, the course enables students to practice their writing and oral presentation skills.

Required preparation by students: Each week an assignment is given to the students. They have to find relevant literature, case law and legislation and write a paper.

Students need to hand in a written version (at the secretariat Public Law) and electronic version (at the e-mailaddress of their lecturer) of their papers.

Course requirements
Bachelor degree in law and sufficient English knowledge. Furthermore, all students are supposed to have at least good basic knowledge of EC/EU law
