Description

The study of literary, epigraphical and archaeological sources for the cultural history of communities writing in Aramaic. The precise topic varies from year to year, according to the participants’ needs and interests. Possible options include, e.g., the early Aramaic city states, Aramaic in the Persian Empire, Aramaic communities in the Roman Near East, and many more.

Course objectives

Following completion of this course, students are able to independently study and describe literary, epigraphical, archaeological and religious aspects of the cultural history of communities writing in Aramaic.
