Admission requirements

6464CN01 is an advanced course in neuropsychology on a master’s level.
Prior knowledge is assumed on a level of the Ba3 course Clinical Neuropsychology

Description

This course provides theoretical foundations in the clinical neuropsychological assessment and diagnostic work-up of cognitive, emotional and/or behavioural consequences as result of (possible) neurological or psychiatric disease in adult and elderly patients. All instructors are (clinical) neuropsychologists working in the (academic) health service and will contribute most of the teaching, with input from a neurologist.

The course involves 7 lectures (2 hrs) addressing the following content domains:

  • General principles of clinical neuropsychology

  • Functional Neuroanatomy

  • Dementias

  • Brain Damage

  • Movement Disorders

  • Neuropsychiatric Disorders

  • Neuropharmacology

Course objectives

Students should obtain a detailed understanding of the affective, behavioural and cognitive manifestations of diseases of the central nervous system, particularly those affecting the brain, in adults and elderly people.

Active participation in the program, exam (MC questions and essay).

Registration

Introduction and enrolment for courses of the first semester will take place on 2 September 2010. Introduction and enrolment for courses of the second semester will take place in 27 January 2011. More information will be available at the website of the Institute of Psychology.

NB: Exam registration will take place via uSis, and will be open between a month and a week before the (re)exam. Students who haven’t registered, cannot participate in the exam.
