Admission to the Masters programme (European Law specialisation), hence bachelor degree in law and sufficient English knowledge.
Description
In the context of the ‘privatissimum’ course, students will focus on a particular element of European law. This may be institutional EU law (such as the position of agencies), substantive EU law (such as competition law) or European human rights law. Each year a new selection of topics will be made, so as to reflect current issues. Likewise the teaching staff will change from year to year, enabling the students to benefit from lecturers who teach about the very core of their own research interests. Students will usually be able to choose from a number of topics, thus allowing them to shape their programme to their particular preferences. But whatever topic they select, the format will be similar. The groups will be small, and following a couple of introductory sessions, students are expected to write papers and make oral presentations on specific issues within a topic.

The course aims at further developing the students’ presentation, writing, and researching skills, as well as offering the opportunity to engage in extensive debate during the sessions. The students have to cooperate in preparing presentations, as well as operate individually during the research for the papers.

The students acquire a thorough knowledge of a specific field of European law. Also, the course enables students to practice their writing and oral presentation skills.

Required preparation by students: Each week an assignment is given to the students. They have to find relevant literature, case law and legislation and write a paper.

Students need to hand in a written version (at the secretariat Public Law) and electronic version (at the e-mailaddress of their lecturer) of their papers.
