Description
This seminar introduces students to main theoretical approaches in international relations, including (neo-)realism, (neo-)liberalism, (post-) Marxism and constructivism. Subsequently, we study intergovernmental institutions in an international context, such as the United Nations (UN) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and analyze challenges to international organization and decision-making, including reform of the UN Security Council. Finally, the seminar focuses on the role of international institutions in mediation and conflict resolution.
