Course description

The course deals with selected topics in the field of Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Anatolia. Students assist the lecturer in making a choice from the selection of areas and text groups to be discussed in accordance with their specialisation. The material dealt with is studied with the whole group, and discussed during the seminar.

Course objectives

Students gain an insight into the relevance of particular sources for the reconstruction of society, in which support is gained not only from textual data but also from the archaeological data examined.

The final grade of this course will be composed of the following elements:

  • an oral presentation (30%)

  • a term paper of at least 5000 words (70%)
