A basic background in syntax.

Description

In this course the Minimalist framework is discussed from its foundations to the technical implementations. Topics include argument structure, case, phrase structure, movement theory, locality, feature checking and economy. All topics are discussed with pre-minimalist approaches in mind as well as the most recent treatises.

Course objectives

a. Students learn the basics of the Minimalist framework.
b. Students learn the basics of argumentation within syntatic theory.
