Description

This course concentrates on the basic theoretical knowledge of microbiology, cellular biology, molecular genetics, immunology and plant cell physiology and the connection between these sub disciplines.

Learning goals

Course objectives:
Refreshment and update of basic knowledge in subjects of Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Microbiology.

Final qualifications:
Sufficient theoretical background to progress in the MCB MSc program.

Timetable

Start in September 2012, exams end of September 2012 (final dates will be put on Blackboard by the coordinator).
This course is compulsory at the start of the MCB program and needs to be finished successfully before any other course or research project can be started.

Assessment method

Four intermediate multiple choice exams and a final exam with open questions.

Remarks

An insufficient score means that a theoretical deficiency exists which has to be remedied within 1 month and no other parts of MCB-specialisation will be creditable without the subsequent re-examination.
