Objectives
The main objective of the course is the introduction to the basic approaches to pharmacology of cognition.
Description
Pharmacology of cognition is an emerging approach in the field of psychopharmacology. It attempts to use theoretical knowledge to understand the biochemical bases of cognition, and the mode of action of the commonly used drugs and to find new brain-targeted therapeutics. The aim of the course is to throw up the main characteristics of this way of research. Each course meeting aims to provide a deeper insight into the theoretical and methodological background (patient study, acute administration of drug; animal modelling) of a current research interest (visual attention, cognitive flexibility, decision-making).
Mode of instruction
Six seminars, self-study
Assessment
Multiple choice questionnaire and writing a scientific blog about Pharmacology of Cognition.
