Description
This course gives students a better understanding of the politics and governance of the People’s Republic of China. It will introduce both the PRC’s political system and some common ways to analyze Chinese political system in social sciences. It examines how policy is made in China and who are involved, and what kind of a role civil society and ordinary citizens have in the Chinese system.
Course objectives
During the course, students become familiar with Chinese policymaking processes and with common theories about the Chinese political system. They develop skills of presentation, academic writing, formulating a research question, and searching for relevant research literature independently.

Total course load for the course (number of EC x 28 hours), for a course of 5 EC is 140 hours, for 10 EC 280.
Hours spent on attending lectures and seminars (eg 2 hours per week x 14 weeks = 28 hours)
Time for studying the compulsory literature (as a possible criterion approx. 7 pages per hour with deviations up and down depending on the material to be studied) (if applicable) time for completing assignments, whether in preparation at the college
