Description
Isotope archaeology is dedicated to the application of isotope data in archaeological research that varies from the reconstruction of diet and mobility/migration patterns, to environmental reconstruction. The potentials and restrictions of various types of isotope research will be discussed.
Course objectives
Basic knowledge of the theoretical background of different methods applied in isotope research;
Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment;
Knowledge of the wide range of applications of isotopic data in modern bioarchaeological research being aware of the potentials as well as the restrictions of the different methods.
Ects distribution
The course load will be distributed as follows:
14×2 hours of lectures, discussion meetings and practical exercises (2 ects);
140 pages of literature (1 ects);
2 papers presenting the results of a case studies assigned to the candidate (2 ects).
