Cross-cultural Psychology of Health and Illness

Description

This course looks at culture, health, disease and health care from a psychological perspective and at cultural aspects of core psychological concepts and models.

Course objectives

After completion of the course, students are able to:

  • Interpret cultural aspects of personality, psychopathology, stress, pain and illness,

  • Describe cultural differences in health beliefs, lifestyles and health; and

  • Understand communication between health care professionals and migrant patients and the use of healthcare facilities; and

  • Demonstrate skills in developing a scientific presentation.

Examination

Students are not automatically enrolled for an examination. They can register via uSis from 100 to 10 calendar days before the date; students who are not registered will not be permitted to take the examination.

Exam with 5 questions, 4 of which are open questions.
Regulation on grade calculation.
