Dynamics of molecule-surface reactions
Up to date schedule information
Core course in MSc Chemistry – Energy & Sustainability, elective course MSc Chemistry, MSc Life Science and Technology
Description
This course addresses results of both dynamics calculations and experiments on molecule-surface reactions, based on recent papers from the scientific literature. Where possible, a comparison is made where results are available from both approaches. Subjects include: the effect of the collision energy and the initial rovibrational state of the reacting molecule on the dissociative chemisorption of diatomic molecules (e.g. H2, N2, and O2) and a polyatomic molecule (CH4), the effect of “alignment” and “orientation” on the dissociative chemisorption of diatomic molecules (H2 and NO), and the final state distribution” in Eley-Rideal reactions.
