Description
This practical course is meant to get started with the basics of construction history, ‘Standing up Archaeology’. There will be 4 tutorials about
stone and brick (types, bonds, ages, finishing);
timber (types, marks, walls, floors, ceilings and roofs);
foundation and windows;
heritage and restoration.
There will also be 2 practical exercises, to start with an explanation about how to make a documentation and description by yourself, choosing one element of an existing building.
Course objectives
Using the elements mentioned above and placing it in a functional and historical context will result in a final paper to be delivered in January.

The course load will be distributed as follows:
7×2 hours of lectures (1 ects);
literature (4 ects).
