Technological perspectives on cyber security

Course
2016-2017

Admission requirements

Admission only after intake, see https://www.csacademy.nl/en/education/master-s-programmes/executive-master-s-programme-cyber-security.

Description

The course is aimed at cyber security specialists with a non-technical background, enabling them to understand the various technical application domains in which security plays a role, the potential threats and the technical solutions. The course aims to give them sufficient background to be able to approach the research topic of their thesis from a multidisciplinary (e.g. combined social scientific and technical) perspective.
The topics handled in this course are in fact the most relevant topics of the technical track courses S2T1 ‘ICT Systems, Networks and Security Threats’ and S2T2 ‘Technical Security Measures and Interventions’. The difference is that only a top-level introduction into the topics taught in these courses is presented, and that mathematical and specific technical details are omitted. For the topics see the descriptions of these courses.
During the course specific attention will be paid to the particular characteristic of the methodology and scientific methods followed within the technical sciences and where they differ from the methods and methodologies of e.g. the social sciences.
