Research internship: Prehistoric Farming Communities

Course
2017-2018

Admission requirements

Key Developments in European Prehistory and Disruptive innovations in Prehistory obtained.

Description

The European Prehistory department organises different kinds of fieldwork and is working on several research projects. You can participate in most of these projects in several ways.

The options for fieldwork internships are:

  • The Veluwe: surveys and excavation of burial mounds, supervised by Q. Bourgeois and D. Fontijn.

  • Szazhalombatta (Hungary): excavation of a Bronze Age tell, organised in combination with the Universities of Southampton and Cambridge, supervised by prof. dr. M.L.S. Sørensen and dr. M. Kuijpers.

You can participate in these fieldwork projects by writing a research plan, carrying out ca. 3 weeks of fieldwork and writing a reflective report. The internship can also involve post-excavation research or research in the framework of one of the research programmes of the staff members.

RMA-students following this module have to write a contextual chapter that places the internship research in a wider (international) perspective. You also participate in planning and in supervising BA and MA students (at excavations).
