Preferably background knowledge of statistics.
Preferably finished the course Analysis and synthesis of speech.
Description
Students will participate and receive training in the various facets of a research project, such as reading relevant literature, developing test materials, collecting data, processing data, and running statistical analyses.
A list of project proposals will be provided on the blackboard and students need to decide which project to participate for the internship. Details of the project (including the specific tasks involved and skills required) will be provided in the project proposals. The final assessment will be based upon the performance during the project and the final intern project report.
Course objectives
After completing the internship, students should be able to:
understand the concepts and fundamental questions of the specific research project that she/he participated in.
hone the technical and research skills they have learned or acquire new and more advanced skills for conducting an experiment to address a linguistically meaningful research question.
develop soft skills such as team work, communication, initiative, and efficiency required for a successful internship.
gain experience in synthesizing the literature and summarizing experimental data to write up an intern report.
