Course
2017-2018

Admission requirements

Description

Those findings can further be presented in form of a documentary, photo collage, video, poster, etc.

Course objectives

When students have successfully fulfilled the individual project, they have shown to be able to:

  • Address a research question that is related to the overall honours program ‘Tackling global challenges’ by looking at one aspect of a global challenge;

  • Use theories discussed in the content-courses and competences from the competences lab to conduct the research; and

  • Offer a possible solution for the problem by building on theory.

Timetable

Mode of instruction

The structure of the report is as follows:
The report (and the project conducted behind it) should present an analytical study of a specific problem or issue. The report should not be a summary of the readings or the lectures. Good research is often based on a puzzle. This means use the more generic question/ challenge and break it down to smaller questions that would fit one project.

Style: academic

Course Load

Total study load is 140 hours.
Hours can be made by finding a project, writing a proposal, self-study: fieldwork; preparing for interviews; writing; completing small assignments, preparing presentations, final evaluation and final report.

Assessment method

The report will be assessed based on several criteria:

  • How appropriate/interesting is the problem/issue?

  • How informative and comprehensive is the description of problem?

  • How good and correct is the application a certain or several perspective?

  • How clear is the overall argument?

  • How good is the reflection/discussion in the conclusion?

The result of such a project is a report detailing the work that has been done linked to the question and possible findings. Those findings can further be presented in form of a documentary, photo collage, video, poster, etc.
