Description

This course is about the process and technique to create an enterprise architecture for an organization. An enterprise architecture is an integrated design of the organizational structure, business processes, information systems and infrastructure of an organization. It represents a long term view, consisting of principles and models, that help organizations to guide the development of their ICT over a longer period of time.

The course follows a roadmap that starts with business and ICT strategy. Next to that, the subjects of strategic alignment and information management are treated. Finally, the development of enterprise architecture models and principles is treated. For the design of an enterprise architecture model, the ArchiMate language is introduced. This course also addresses the concepts of a service oriented architecture. Service oriented architecture provides important theoretical notions for both enterprise and software architectures.

Throughout this course, practical cases will be presented to illustrate the application of architectures in practice. The third hour of every lecture is dedicated to applying and illustrating the theoretical models to practical cases. Students work in groups on an assignment to learn applying the methods and techniques. This group assignment will be graded.
