Entrance requirements
A submission exam, consisting of an interview and viewing of your portfolio. Some painting experience is requested, and an open and experimental attitude is essential. Preferably you followed Painting-1
To the submission you are to bring a portfolio: a folder with at least 10 paintings (paintings on paper are permitted) and / or drawings, including at least:
-3 Paintings from direct perception (portrait, landscape, still life)
-3 Paintings that make use of your imagination and/or abstraction
Description
What will you paint en which form is best for it? The course combines the development of content with a further development of your creative and technical skills.
How do you get ideas and how do you elaborate them? That could be from the perception, from the media, from your memory, a feeling, a social engagement, imagination, a philosophical question, the act of painting itself, etcetera… Parting from explicit assignments you implore various methods in combination with various technical skills, amongst which use of color, sense of form and composition. You are encouraged to experiment and to reflect on your work and that of others. You learn to find words for what you see. Gradually you begin developing your own style and subject matter. In each lesson you´ll get to know new examples of relevant paintings from the art history by means of a short PowerPoint presentation.
Course objectives
Development of content; intensification of the perception, further application of the principles of the painting technique, development of personal ideas and imagery.

Entrance exams: 30 January 2019 from 16.00 hrs.
Lessons: Tuesday from 19.00 – 21.30 hrs.
Period: 5 February until 4 Juni 2018

Mode of instruction
The course consists of several modules, each of which deals with a specific method or subject matter.
All lessons are practical with thematic assignments, aimed at learning to deal with content, different materials and techniques and their specific expression and application. Individual tutorials while painting; short PowerPoint presentations with relevant images from art history, and collective evaluations of the work. Between classes: keeping a visual inspiration diary, which will be evaluated individually in each lesson. At the end of the semester an individual speech on a painter of your own choice and participation in a joint exhibition.
Mode of assesment
Attendance to the lessons is mandatory for 80%
Individual assessment of work at the end of the course.
At the end of the course there will be an exhibition. Participation in that is required.
At least 10 paintings and a full inspiration book.
A lecture about a painter of your choice.
Literature
All applicable materials for painting and drawing, as well as tools, books, other printed information and audiovisual means.
