Description
Tocharian is an Indo-European language attested through mainly Buddhist manuscripts from the 5th-10th centuries found along the Silk Road in Xīnjiāng, present-day NW China. This course is an introduction to the synchronic and diachronic grammar of Tocharian B. Students are required to work on an additional topic such as the script, Tocharian A, or a selected problem of historical grammar.
Course objectives
- Analyze basics of Tocharian B grammar 
- Read Tocharian B texts with a glossary 
- Interpret Tocharian B grammar in an Indo-European perspective

Resit: Students with a final grade of 5.0 or lower may take the resit.
