Only open to master’s students in Psychology with specialisation Clinical Neuropsychology, participating or having participated in the Master course ‘Adult and Old-Age Clinical Neuropsychology: Theory and Assessment’
This course provides a practical training in clinical neuropsychological assessment, diagnostic work-up and writing a clinical report of cognitive, emotional and/or behavioural consequences as result of (possible) neurological or psychiatric disease in adult and elderly patients.
The course involves 7 seminars (3 hrs) addressing the following content domains:
Observations, history taking and conclusion
Memory and dementia screening
Executive functioning and language
Attention, gnosis, praxis, academic skills and malingering
Neuropsychiatric functioning and personality
Clinical case extended
Additionally, during the seminars we will discuss cases concerning a broad spectrum of neuropsychological disfunctions (e.g. neuropsychological profiles of Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, brain tumor, depression, etc.). Students will be evaluated on different aspects of the diagnostic process (e.g. history taking, observations, interpreting test results, writing a conclusion, etc.).
This course aims to provide students with basic professional skills for competent professional practice of of neuropsychological assessment and report.
1) Intake and history taking;
2) Choosing the right instruments and conducting neuropsychological tests; and
3) Interpretation (diagnosis) and writing a clinical report.

Students are not automatically enrolled for an examination. They can register via uSis from 100 to 10 calendar days before the date. Students who are not registered will not be permitted to take the examination. Registering for exams
Mode of instruction
7 meetings of 3 hours each. Experiential training with practical videos, case demonstrations and practical training in neuropsychological assessment will be part of the course. Attendance to all meetings is obligatory.

The Institute of Psychology follows the policy of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences to systematically check student papers for plagiarism with the help of software. Disciplinary measures will be taken when fraud is detected. Students are expected to be familiar with and understand the implications of this fraud policy.
