Description
The aim of this course is to gain insight into the functioning of the democratic constitutional state, the organization and organization of the central government and the position of IT (developments) within it.
Governments and companies have different social functions. This gives a different orientation in, among other things, decision-making processes and the organization and operation of organizations. This results in working in an official organization entailing different dynamics than working in a company. Knowledge and insight into IT and the functioning of the central government means that IT professionals can operate effectively within the government service.
Course objectives
Operation of a democratic constitutional state / state structure
Gain insight into the structure of the state and the basic principles of (the structure of) the democratic constitutional state;
To have knowledge of the different layers of government with their responsibilities and powers
The organization (of the) central government and IT
Gain insight into the organization of central government and its IT.
Take note of current (IT) themes and dilemmas within the government
Public finances
Understanding of the government's budget cycle, decision-making moments, forums and rules of the game.
Experiencing why, how and when you, as an IT person, have to connect with the budget cycle.

6 x 3 hours of interactive lectures, working visit.

Conditions for participation in the final assignment / exam are, on average, sufficient for 1. assignments and 2. participation.
