Responsible Innovation

Minor

The minor Responsible Innovation is a unique collaboration between the Leiden University, the Delft University of Technology and the Erasmus University Rotterdam. This minor offers in-depth insight into how responsible innovation can be accomplished and promoted. You will learn how responsible innovation can be defined and analysed; how it can be done and managed at the level of a project team, of a company, and of an entire economic system; and how responsible innovation can be promoted and irresponsible innovation avoided.
In this minor, we combine the unique knowledge and skills of the three universities of Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam. Each university contributes its own specific focus and expertise on Responsible Innovation. The students and teachers come from the different universities, and bring with them specific knowledge and perspectives from their universities.

Structure of the Minor

Structure of the minor

The minor consists of 1 quarter (for Erasmus students) or 2 quarters (=1 semester, for TU Delft and Leiden University students). Each quarter consists of:

  1. Three thematic modules, and each university participating the minor will be responsible for one module per quarter;
  2. Skill Labs as part of the thematic modules that support your learning experience;
  3. and an innovative research assignment in Student Project Groups.

Target group

Target group

Are you interested in working together with students from various disciplines from Delft, Leiden and Rotterdam and do you think that people, planet and profit should be taken into account during innovation? If so, this English-Language minor could be right for you!
The minor is open to all third-year bachelor student of the three universities. Students from Rotterdam take only the first part in Q1 (15 ECTS). Students from Delft and Leiden can take both quarters making up a 30 ECTS minor.
We aim at students who are passionate about understanding dilemmas in responsible innovation. The course encourages students to think about the people, planet and profit aspects of potential innovations. The following common features describe our target group: – Societal conscious: you have a vision to understanding dilemmas in responsible innovation; – Entrepreneurial spirit: you are open minded with a flexible and proactive attitude; – Value-driven: you have a wish to contribute to financial, ecological and social sustainability. We are looking for a high diversity of interests and backgrounds, in order to have strong cross-disciplinary teams with higher and more effective innovation capacity!

Registration and contact details

In order to do a minor at a LDE university other than your home university, you must have an active or a definitive enrolment for a Bachelor’s programme at your home university before 1 September.
Beside an active enrolment at your home university you also need an active registration as a guest-/minor-student at the other participating LDE universities.
Erasmus University, Leiden University and TU Delft will exchange the necessary registration information (your name, address, contact details, etc.), but you also need to take action.

Please register as follows for the active enrolment at your home university:

TU Delft students:

  • Register your minor preferences via Osiris from 1 May up to 31 May.

  • Make sure you have an active registration as a bachelor student for 2017-2018 at your home university TU Delft before 1 September 2017!

EUR students:

  • Register your minor preferences via Osiris from 1 May up to 31 May.

  • Make sure you have an active registration as a bachelor student for 2017-2018 at your home university EUR before 1 September 2017!

Leiden University students:

  • Register for the minor in uSis from 1 May up to 1 August 2017.

  • Make sure you have an active registration as a bachelor student for 2017-2018 at your home university Leiden University before 1 September 2017!!

Please register as follows for the active registration as a guest-/minor-student at the other participating universities:

Leiden students
For enrolling as a minor-student at TU Delft:
1. Register yourself as a minor-student via www.studielink.nl (see factsheet)
2. Immediately after registration in Studielink, you must upload a passport photo for your TU Delft campus card via www.e-service.tudelft.nl. You can log in with your NetID, which is sent to you automatically after your registration in Studielink.
For enrolling as a guest student at Erasmus University:
1. You will receive an email requesting you to upload a passport photo. Make sure that you upload your passport photo before 1 September. Without a passport photo, you cannot be enrolled as a guest student at Erasmus University.

TU-Delft students
For enrolling as a minor-student at Leiden:
1. You will receive an email regarding your registration as contract student and an email with the request to activate your new UCLN account. After activating this, you can access Blackboard Leiden that will function as the electronic learning environment.

For enrolling as a guest student at Erasmus University:
1. You will receive an email requesting you to upload a passport photo. Make sure that you upload your passport photo before 1 September. Without a passport photo, you cannot be enrolled as a guest student at Erasmus University.

Erasmus students
For enrolling as a minor-student at Leiden University:
