History: Cities, Migration and Global Interdependence (including Economic History & Governance of Migration and Diversity)

Be aware that this is the 2018-2019 MA History programme. Students who started their programme before September 2018 need to adhere to the academic requirements of their (older) programme.

While the Governance of Migration and Diversity programme differs, the general structure of the MA Cities, Migration and Global Interdependence is as follows:

In the first semester, the student takes a Literature Seminar (10 EC) and two Research Seminars (20 EC), at least one of which within their specialisation.

In the second semester, the student has the opportunity to fill the Optional Course (10 EC) with several options (see Optional Course below), and has to write a Thesis (20 EC). Throughout the year, students are obliged to participate in the Thesis Seminar of their specialisation.

The student must get in touch with the Coordinator of Studies if any deviations from the ideal study plan occur.

Governance of Migration and Diversity

The master sub-specialisation Governance of Migration and Diversity is one of the few so-called LDE Master programmes: LDE programmes are a cooperation between Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Leiden University offers the History track of this sub-specialisation. For more information on the History track, have a look at our website. For questions regarding content of this track, please contact prof. dr. Marlou Schrover. For general issues, please contact the Coordinator of Studies

Note: The programme comprises courses in three cities (Leiden, Rotterdam and Delft or The Hague), so students will have to travel between these cities. These courses are only open to students enrolled in this programme. Once graduated, the students enrolled at Leiden University will receive an MA History diploma.
