Admission requirements
Students admitted to MA Asian Studies 120 ec, Japanese Studies. Successful completion of Advanced integrated Japanese 1&2, year1/sem1&2/block3.
Description
In this relatively short course, students will focus on further developing their analytical and language skills to be able to read and discuss Japan’s contemporary issues. They will also learn to analyze and reflect upon such issues from the crosscultural and global viewpoints as multilingual/cultural persons. They will engage in academic issues in the filed of Japanese Studies. Language activities are organized in order to further develop students’ logical thinking and language skills including the use of formal language, senses for Japanese expressions and expand their knowledge of readings of kanji.
Course objectives
In addition to the development and enhance logical thinking, the course aims to develop skills necessary to present and produce texts (oral and written) about specialized topics including their thesis.

Weighing
The final mark for the course is established by (i) determination of the weighted average combined with (ii) additional requirements.
The students are required to attend more than 70% of the course.
Resit
The re-sit exam for the final exam is available to students whose mark of the final exam is insufficient.
Inspection and feedback
The submitted work will be returned with comments.
