Influences on the vegetation will be investigated including climate change and in more recent geological time anthropogenic factors.
Learning outcomes
The research and preparation of a scientific paper suitable for an international conference. This will involve the production of both a written abstract and a PowerPoint presentation;
The refereeing process where the tutor will comment on both the abstract and the presentation in advance the conference and, where appropriate, expect alterations to be made before the contribution is accepted for inclusion in the conference proceedings;
The presentation of the paper i.e. the verbal delivery of the paper to an audience;
Being questioned by other participants on the scientific content of their paper.
Mode of delivery
The tutor will act as a conference organiser while the students will be the participants attending the conference to present a paper. The attention is for the conference participants to present papers on cutting edge topics in the field of scientific archaeology. The subject matter presented will be diverse and will change as the discipline advances.
