Admission requirements
A sound understanding of the philosophy of the Enlightenment (ideally from the course: History of Modern Philosophy).
A good understanding of English (for lectures and texts).
Description
An introduction to the key problems of modern Political Philosophy focusing on the foundations of modern Liberalism in the Enlightenment contract theories of Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau.

Lectures (hoorcollege) with some time left over for discussion.
Assessment method
Regular assignments (10%)
Mid-semester take-home exam (40%)
