This course is only available for students in the BA International Studies.

Description

This course runs parallel with the Introduction to Area Studies course
and will introduce students to some of the problems facing various areas and the challenge in studying them. Lectures will be supported and accompanied by various music, film, television and other media examples.

After this course, students are able to make a reasoned choice for an area and a corresponding language. They can argue their choice in an objective, coherent manner. They can support their argument with information taken from various sources, having digested both the Introduction in class, and a substantial body of academic literature.
