Description
Book exam is an independent module, for which the student is expected to study (specific chapters of) a biological textbook or a book covering a specialist biological subject, supplemented with one or two recent reviews from a scientific journal. There are no lectures or other type of contact teaching. The grade is given solely based on the student’s performance in the examination.
Learning goals
Course objectives:
Book Exam aims to provide students with basic scientific background that has not already been covered in the BSc programme or in the introductory MS courses and that ideally is relevant for their MSc specialisation and research project.
Final qualifications:
The student is able to extract concepts and knowledge on a specific subject from a larger scientific field and to express and explain them.

Written examination on Thursday January 30, 2014, 13:30-16:30.

Reading list
For each Master specialisation a list of subjects will be available on Blackboard. Students are expected to select a subject of their interest from this list by the end of the orientation course (second half September 2013) and contact the responsible MSc specialisation coordinator for arrangements on the study materials and examination requirements.
