Premodern Chinese IV
Description
This semester the seminar focuses on self-expression and autobiographical writing in classical Chinese texts. We will read notebook literature and letters dating from the eighth through the fourteenth centuries. In addition to traditional philological tools, students will also learn to work with (freely available) digital tools for the analysis of classical Chinese texts, including digital markup, quantitative analysis, network and map visualizations.
