Admission Requirements
Chinese – Beginners, Chinese – Elementary or an intermediate knowledge of Chinese: A2 (Common European Framework)
Description
This course aims at the development of communicative skills, with a special focus on listening and speaking skills. It also introduces frequently used basic grammatical structures in order to solidify the learner’s knowledge of Chinese grammar.
Course Objectives
This is an intermediate course. At the end of the learning period, the learner will not only be able to understand basic sentence structures and frequently used expressions in Chinese, but will also be able to talk about more abstract topics.
Mode of Instruction
The teaching method will be based on communicative-oriented approach, with strong focus on speaking fluency.
Assessment
To be confirmed in the course syllabus:
Class oral assignment 30% (twice per semester)
Class dictation test 10%
Final Listening/speaking exam 30%
Final Written exam 30%
Two oral assignments will be arranged per semester. The first oral assignment is an individual assignment; the second one is a group assignment.
Class dictation tests will be held when a lesson is finished (check “weekly overview” on Blackboard for details).
The final listening/speaking exam and written exam will take place during the “reading week” (26-30 May).
