Course description
This course deals with the four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Particular attention is given to basic grammar and everyday language use. Texts and topics are centered around everyday situations. Conversation skills are practised in the class, as well as in groups.
Learning objectives
The Dutch language course for beginners aims at the A2 level of the Common European Framework (CEFR). The student at this level can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases in real-world situations.
Mode of instruction
This course builds up the language skills of students who have no basic knowledge of Dutch and develops the full range of communication skills in speaking, reading, listening and writing. Course contents are grammar practice, vocabulary building, listening, speaking and writing activities. The course based on language learning books, requires a lot of self-study at home. The method of teaching is communicative and classes will be conducted primarily in Dutch. A Blackboard site will support the course.
