Admission requirements
Course for students enrolled in Master’s programme Crisis and Security Management on the basis of the curriculum before the academic year 2020-2021. Students are in need of permission from the Board of Examiners to enrol in this course, after consulting study advice.
Description
In the course ‘Thesis Preparation’ students will be provided with concrete advice and practical tools to conduct their own thesis research. Further, the course wil deepen the knowledge on research designs and research methods students acquired in the course Research Design.
The course is divided into digital shorts (to be viewed in preparation of live webinars) and three live webinars.
In the first live webinar, a Q&A session is organised about the setup of the course and the thesis process (with the thesis coordinator).
The students then have to choose two ‘method labs’: workshops during which students gain more insight into specific research methodologies (e.g. interviewing) that are relevant for their own thesis. Each method lab consists of a number of digital shorts, followed by an online webinar with exercises and a Q&A.
Course objectives
After the course, students have:
Gained profound knowledge in specific methodological skills, relevant to the thesis project;
Fine-tuned their research proposal for their thesis project enabling them to start implementing their research.
Timetable
On the right-hand side of the programme front page of the E-guide you will find links to the website and timetables, uSis and Brightspace.
