Description
Introductory course about the representation of language in the brain, in which the following topics are discussed: neuroanatomy, neurocognitive methods (EEG/ERP, fMRI, TMS), types of acquired aphasia, language disorders in children, and potentially bi-/multilingualism and sign language. The course starts with an introduction to methodological approaches in the field, and will then give an overview of some crucial findings in the neurobiology of language from both healthy participants and neuropsychological patients..
Course objectives
After completing the course, students will have acquired basic knowledge of disorders during language acquisition, language comprehension, and language production as well as of the most important neurolinguistic findings and theories in these areas. They will also have acquired knowledge about some of the most widely used methodologies in the field, such as electrophysiological and neuroimaging methods as well as the investigation of neurotypical patients

Assessment method
Two written exams with closed questions (multiple choice). Students need to pass both exams, i.e. both exams need to be sufficient. The final grade is the mean of both sufficiently passed exams, i.e. both exams count for 50% towards the final grade
Both exams can be resat in the same resit.
inspection and feedback
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
