Persian Language and Culture 2, Media Persian
Description
This course covers various Persian language skills as well as translation skills at intermediate level. The course builds on the Persian Language and Culture 2 course and covers more complex Persian syntax in addition to improving students’ knowledge of vocabularies in various fields. The course will make use of modern Persian texts. The course will also address cultural aspects of Iran using authentic and academic texts in Persian.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the course, students will acquire an intermediate level understanding of the principles of Persian language syntax and build a comprehensive knowledge of vocabulary from range of topics. On this basis, at the end of this course, students will be able to read, analyse and translate modern texts in standard written Persian on various topics and translate these texts.

Mode of instruction
- Seminar
Attendance and active participation are obligatory for these seminars. Students are required to prepare for and attend all sessions. The convener needs to be informed without delay of any classes missed for a good reason (i.e. due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, family issues, problems with residence permits, the Dutch railways in winter, etc.). In these cases it is up to the discretion of the convener of the course whether or not the missed class will have to be made up with an extra assignment. The maximum of such absences during a semester is two. Being absent without notification and/or more than two times can result in exclusion from the term end exams and a failing grade for the course.

Resit
There is no resit for the presentation, only for the written exam, which will count 80%.
Inspection and feedback
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
