Only open to Master students (with a specialisation in Clinical Psychology, Health and Medical Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychology, School Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology or the Research Master in Clinical and Health Psychology and in Developmental Psychology).
Description
The course introduces Master students to E-health interventions in mental health care. In a series of online seminars, the course provides a broad overview on E-health in different clinical settings and addresses current applications, scientific evidence, and new developments. Students have also online access to a treatment platform for e-mental health. Students practice with this programme both as a therapist and as a client. Students discuss their experiences in breakout rooms during some of the online seminars.
The seminar series features guest experts from various, specific mental health care settings, who address their E-health practices in specific disorders such as depression, addiction and anxiety disorders, and across the lifespan. A wide variety of technical applications and relevant topics will be addressed, such as virtual reality, smartphone applications, blended forms of E-health, motivation, legal and ethical aspects of E-health, limitations, and future developments.
Course objectives
Students have knowledge about the current state of the art and scientific evidence of E-health interventions and applications in various Mental health care settings.
Students have knowledge about the basic principles of providing E-health interventions in mental health care settings.
Students have practical experience in an online E-health programme, both as therapist and client.

Registration
Education
Students must register themselves for all course components (lectures, tutorials and practicals) they wish to follow. You can register up to 5 days prior to the start of the course.
Exams
It is mandatory for all students to register for each exam and to confirm registration for each exam in My Studymap. This is possible up to and including 10 calendar days prior to the examination. You cannot take an exam without a valid pre-registration and confirmation in My Studymap. Carefully read all information about the procedures and deadlines for registering for courses and exams.
Exchange students and external guest students will be informed by the education administration about the current registration procedure.

Students that take the SPOC will use Brightspace as their digital community. Please enroll yourself for the course via this link.
Mode of instruction
8 2-hour seminars: to cover the relevant literature, to provide knowledge about E-health interventions and applications in mental health care. All seminars are online. This is in line with the nature of the course, where online experiences are central.
During 5 of the online seminars, students discuss their work in the E-Health program in breakout rooms. This is supervised by the course coordinators.
The online seminars are obligatory. On Brightspace information can be found what to do when missing a seminar.
The official language of the course is English.
Assessment method
- Completing E-health programme as a therapist
- Completing E-health programme as a client
- Writing an individual reflection report on work with the E-health programme (report grade; 50% of the final grade)
- Each week students hand in an assignment covering the course literature and content of the weeks seminar (all assignments together result in an exam grade; 50% of the final grade)
Students have to pass both the reflection report (report grade) and the assignments (exam grade). The report and assignments have to be written in English.
Feedback on the assignments is available through Turnitin.
The Institute of Psychology follows the policy of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences to systematically check student papers for plagiarism with the help of software. Disciplinary measures will be taken when fraud is detected. Students are expected to be familiar with and understand the implications of this fraud policy.
