Description

This course is meant to serve as a bridge between students’ knowledge of and how this theory is applied to carry out linguistic studies and analyses. The course consists of meetings with members of the LAS linguistics faculty and hands-on practical training carrying out linguistic studies and analyses. This course will be tailored to each individual student and will not be lecture-based.

Course objectives

  • Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of a variety of methodologies used in linguistic investigations (e.g., naturalistic data collection, experimental data collection, sociolinguistic interviews, etc.).

  • Students will assist in carrying out linguistic research, including having the opportunity to collaborate on study design, data collection, and data analysis.

Resit

Due to the nature of the course, it is not possible to “retake” the participation/intership portion of the course. Therefore, only the written portion will be open for re-sit.

Inspection and feedback

How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
