Description
This course will cover the fundamental principles of quantitative analysis in the humanities. Students will get acquainted with various types of research methods encountered in the humanities and learn the difference between experimental vs non-experimental and qualitative vs quantitative research. They will learn about the most important concepts of descriptive statistics and graphical representation of data needed to describe and summarize a data set. We will discuss how to assess relationships between variables, and learn about the concepts of correlation and regression. This course aims at providing a theoretical knowledge about all these statistical concepts, but also practical training on how to generate these statistics using freely available statistical software.
