Description

This course covers various Persian language skills as well as translation skills at intermediate level. The course builds on the Persian Language and Culture 2 course and covers more complex Persian syntax in addition to improving students’ knowledge of vocabularies in various fields. The course will make use of modern Persian texts. The course will also address cultural aspects of Iran using authentic and academic texts in Persian.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, students will attain an intermediate-level understanding of Persian language syntax, along with a robust vocabulary spanning diverse subjects. By the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in reading, analysing, and translating modern texts in standard written Persian across various topics. They will also develop self-directed learning skills, empowering them to evaluate their progress and further enhance their language skills independently. Additionally, students will refine both their written and oral communication skills in Persian, and will be able to prepare and deliver the result of their research through an academic presentation in the target language using academic (online) sources. Finally, students will deepen their understanding of Iran and the broader Persianate world, exploring a wide array of related topics.

Resit

There is no resit for the presentation, only for the written exam, which will count 80%.

Inspection and feedback

How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
