Students should be sufficiently proficient in English and Dutch. This course is part of the premaster Translation and cannot be taken separately.
Description
The aim of this premaster course is to familiarize its participants with the practice of doing research in translation studies. Students will learn how to design a project, collect and analyze data, and write up the research in appropriate academic English for both specialist and non-specialist audiences. There will be one written examination at the end of the course in the form of a research report, with an accompanying blog post or new letter item.

Ability to collect and analyze data using suitable tools and methods, such as questionnaires, corpora and statistics
Ability to write up the results in an appropriate format in academic English.

Inspection and feedback
How and when an exam review will take place will be disclosed together with the publication of the exam results at the latest. If a student requests a review within 30 days after publication of the exam results, an exam review will have to be organized.
Reading list
Tutors may set reading materials based on the students’ lacunae in practical translation experience or knowledge of translation theory.
