Assessment method
Assessment
Students must pass the exams. Thereafter final grades will be determined according to the following formula:
Reading: 20%;
Listening: 20%;
Writing: 30%;
Speaking 30%;
To pass this course, the average grade in each of the four skill areas (reading, listening, writing, and speaking) must be 6.0 or higher.
No partial EC is given – students should attend all classes (9hrs/week) to obtain the course grade.
Resit
Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement (*see Remarks) will fail the course. No resit or make-up.
Students who fail to meet the requirements for workbook submissions will fail the course. No resit or make-up.
Students can do two vocabulary resits upon request, as long as it is within two weeks of the original quiz date.
If a student’s grade in any of the four skill areas (reading, listening, writing, or speaking) falls below 6.0, the student is required to resit only that specific area. The resit will cover all material related to that area, and the resit grade will replace the original midterm and final exam scores for that section.
Inspection and feedback
Within two weeks after an exam, date and time for exam debriefing session will be announced via Brightspace in order for students to view their exam.
