Description
An intensive course in John Searle’s writings on language and the mind. The course aims to relate topics from philosophy of language, such as speech acts, fiction, metaphor, meaning and reference, to the problem how thought and perception can be thought and perception of an object. According to Searle philosophy of language is a branch of the philosophy of mind, but how is this possible given that we seem to have access to the mind only through language.
